LONGVIEW- The Sulphur Springs Wildcats traveled to Longview Friday to take on Pine Tree. This was the second time the two teams have faced this season, as Sulphur Springs won by a final score of 74- 55 in their first match back in December.

The Wildcats were able to win this one just as easily, taking the game by a commanding 65-35. Senior Lamodrick Johnson was the leading scorer, finishing with a total of 18 points. Just behind him was junior Justin Haire who had a strong 16-point performance.

Senior Boo Wilkerson was next with nine points. Parker Whisenhunt added seven points, while Kordrick Turner had six points, Caleb Alexander had five points and Cason Arrington had four points.

After losing a pair of games, both on buzzer beaters, the Wildcats have bounced back with three consecutive wins. In that time they have beaten Texas High, 67-58; Marshall, 56-40 and now Pine Tree, 65-35.

With a 5-2 record in district play, Sulphur Springs currently sits in second place in their district, trailing only Mount Pleasant who is undefeated and ranked No. 14 in the state. The Wildcats’ remaining regular season schedule is:

• Friday, Jan. 29, Sulphur Springs @ Longview at 7:30 p.m.

• Tuesday, Feb. 2, Sulphur Springs @ Mount Pleasant at 7:30 p.m.

• Friday, Feb. 5, Texas High @ Sulphur Springs at 8 p.m. (Senior Night)
