Sulphur Springs opened their first game in Frisco ISD’s Dr. Pink Varsity Soccer Tournament with a 1-1 tie against El Paso Montwood on Thursday.

“Great game from both groups. They [El Paso Montwood] were a talented team. They were a fast athletic group that was very skilled,” Coach Alexi Upton said.

El Paso Montwood is a 6A that went 18-5-2 last season.

They will continue this tournament throughout the weekend with a pair of games on Friday against El Paso Eastlake, and then they will play Caprock at the Ford Center in Frisco, where the Dallas Cowboys practice.

They also play McKinney North at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Toyota field No. 16.

Next weekend, the Wildcats will be playing in the Longview Lobo Invitational tournament, where on Thursday Jan. 9, they will play Lufkin at 4 p.m., Jacksonville at 4 p.m. Friday and Forney at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
