The Sulphur Springs Wildcats hosted Greenville Tuesday night in front of a packed house for their district rematch.

The game opened with a back-and-forth first quarter that saw the lead change six times in the first five minutes. Sadaidriene Hall beat his man off the dribble and gave Sulphur Springs the 11-10 lead with three minutes remaining in the quarter.

Justin Haire followed that, scoring off an offensive rebound that forced Greenville to take their first timeout.

In the final seconds of the frame Boo Wilkerson hit a very deep 3-pointer to close the quarter out ahead, 16-12.

Greenville went on a 6-2 run in the first two minutes of the second quarter to tie things up and force Sulphur Springs to call a timeout. Both teams went back and forth exchanging baskets with neither team able to pull in front of the other.

Hall scored on a pair of offensive putbacks, finishing the first half with 9 points. Lamodrick Johnson scored on a layup late in the first half to put the Wildcats ahead, 27-26.

Greenville made a free throw in the final seconds, and the teams went into the locker rooms tied at the half, 27-27.

Wilkerson opened the second half on fire, scoring 5 quick points in the first two minutes to put the Wildcats ahead, 32-27. Grayson McClure followed him with a layup and a 3-pointer himself to force Greenville to call a timeout.

Greenville made adjustments and went on a 8-4 run, bringing the score to 39-35 with 2:58 remaining in the quarter. In the final minute, Wilkerson hit a layup assisted by Cameron Kahn and nailed a 3-pointer to end the quarter, 44-37.

Wilkerson kept the scoring going, opening the fourth quarter to hit another 3-pointer and another layup to cap off 10 consecutive points to boost their lead to 49-37.

Greenville was never able to bounce back from that 10-0 Wilkerson run, and the Wildcats walked away with the 63-52 win.

Wilkerson led the team in scoring, finishing with 23 points. He made four 3-pointers, and 15 of his points came in the second half. Hall and Kahn each finished in double-digits as well, scoring 15 points and 12 points respectively. McClure ended the night with 7 points, all of which came in the second half.

Other scorers for the Wildcats were Haire who had 4 points, and Johnson with 2.

Sulphur Springs will play again Friday, Feb. 7 in Mount Pleasant. The Freshmen team is set to start at 5 p.m. with the JV and varsity to follow.
