The Sulphur Springs Wildcats hosted Marshall Tuesday, looking to win their second consecutive district game. After dropping their first two district contests to Longview and Mount Pleasant, Sulphur Springs picked up their first district win against Texas High Friday.

David Moreno got things started for the Wildcats, scoring on an assist from Uriel Santacruz. Moreno turned around and scored the second goal as well, this time thanks to some help from Omar Hernandez.

Leading 2-0, Hernandez added some extra cushion, scoring an unassisted goal to make the score 3-0. Sulphur Springs was able to complete the shutout, winning the game by a final score of 3-0.

“Solid 3-0 win! I’m very proud of our boys,” coach Alexi Upton said. “Great game in this freezing weather!”

The win improves Sulphur Springs’ record to 11-6-1 on the season and gets them back to even at 2-2 in district play. The Wildcats have a bye Tuesday, but return to action Friday, Feb. 19 at home against Hallsville. After that they will hit the road for a pair of games and won’t return home until Tuesday, March 2 to host Texas High. In both games the varsity is set to begin at 7:15 p.m.
