Wildcats pick up win in road blowout

Wallace throws for 351 yards

CRANDALL- The Sulphur Springs Wildcats traveled to Crandall Friday, picking up their second win of the season in a 72-44 blowout.

The Wildcats offense was on from the very beginning, getting a ton of production from a number of players. Quarterback Kaden Wallace had his best game of the season, completing 21 of his 27 passing attempts for a season-high 351 yards. Wallace also threw for one touchdown, as well as rushing for 36 yards on six carries.

The Wildcats running backs had great games, with senior Caden Davis leading the way. Davis had 165 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns on just 11 carries. Behind Davis was junior Dougie Deloney. Deloney had 160 rushing yards on 18 tries, picking up just under nine yards per carry. Deloney had a career day, rushing for four touchdowns in the game.

Fellow junior JJ Hall had a strong game as well, rushing for two touchdowns and 52 yards on just eight attempts. Sophomore CJ Williams had one carry which resulted in a two-yard touchdown.

Williams also had an excellent day receiving, catching 10 passes for 228 yards and one touchdown. The next leading receiver was junior Matthew Sherman. Sherman had three catches for 58 yards. Other receivers for the Wildcats were Carson Bridges, who had 30 yards on a pair of catches; Carson Fenton, who had 28 yards on two catches; Matthew Mitchell who had three yards on two catches; and Reed Williams who had four yards on one catch.

Defensively the Wildcats were led by senior linebacker Ryan Carrillo. Carrillo led the team with 12 tackles, six of which were solo tackles. Just behind him was junior safety Korderrian Turner who had 10 tackles.

Junior Dominque Sims had a great game, finishing with nine tackles, and the lone Wildcat interception of the game. Other notables on the Sulphur Springs defense were senior Landry Meskimen who had eight tackles, and Wyatt Smithson and Nick Cantillo who each had seven tackles.

Senior Camron Hargraves had the only sack in the game for Sulphur Springs.

The win improves the Wildcats’ record to 2-4 on the season with both of their wins coming against district opponents. Sulphur Springs will have the week off and will return for the final game of the season on Friday, Dec. 4 at Forney. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
