Robinson records two hits
PARIS — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats snapped their four-game losing streak Tuesday with a 6-4 victory over the Paris Wildcats. After falling behind 3-2 through the first four innings, a four-run fifth inning would give Sulphur Springs the edge they needed, leading to the victory.
Sulphur Springs would strike first with a pair of runs in the first inning, coming from Alex Macias and Evan Moore, giving them a 2-0 lead. From there, Paris added one run each in the second, third, and fourth innings, pulling ahead 3-2.
The fifth inning would see Sulphur Springs quickly load the bases. Soon after, the game would be tied when Kaden Mitchell scored a run. Sulphur Springs would then reclaim the lead when Ayden Alvarez and Matt Mitchell scored, pulling ahead 5-3.
Sulphur Springs added one more run when Dane Oud scored, extending the lead to 6-3. After a scoreless sixth inning, Paris tried to mount a comeback. However, Paris only added one more run in the final inning, as Sulphur Springs capped off a 6-4 road win.
As a team, the Wildcats batted 6 for 27 (.222) from the plate. Ty Robinson led with two hits, while Austin Chaney, Kaden Mitchell, Matt Mitchell, and Oud added one hit each. Alvarez, Macias, Kaden Mitchell, Matt Mitchell, Moore, and Oud all scored one run each.
Kaden Mitchell pitched a complete game on the mound. Across seven innings, he recorded seven strikeouts and only gave up five hits, four earned runs, and two walks.
With this win, the Wildcats are up to 1-2 in district and 5-6 overall. Their next game is set for Friday, when they welcome the North Lamar Panthers to Wildcat Park.
