Sulphur Springs | Tennis

TEXARKANA — The Sulphur Springs tennis team lost 18-1 in Tuesday district action at Texas High School.

The lone win for the Wildcats was an 8-6 mixed doubles decision by the team of Jeauxleigh Cantu and Jonah Kirkpatrick.

Competing in the event for Sulphur Springs were: Cantu, Kirkpatrick, Aaron Lucas, Logan Schumacher, Waylon Matlock, Jordan Gonzales, Alex Ramiro, Tate Smith, Harleigh Stegient, Paige Miesse, Savannah Lilley, Emily Dick and Trynity Luckett.

The Wildcats are 1-2 in district play, 4-11 for the season.

“Texas High is very talented, and we saw that Tuesday afternoon. I was very happy with our players’ competitiveness on the courts. I felt we had a successful day even though the score does not indicate it,” said Tony Martinez, head tennis coach.

The Wildcats play at home Tuesday, Sept. 24 against district foe Mount Pleasant in a 3:30 p.m. match at the Sulphur Springs tennis complex.
