TEXARKANA- The Sulphur Springs Wildcats traveled to Texarkana Friday to take on Texas High. The Wildcats entered the game, looking to bounce back after losing a pair of games to Longview and Mount Pleasant.

Sulphur Springs got on the board first, as Jorge Santa Cruz found the back of the net with the help of an assist from Omar Hernandez. The Wildcats rode their 1-0 lead for the rest of the first half.

Texas High scored the first goal of the second half, tying things up at 1-1, but Joel Pasion gave the Wildcats their lead back, scoring an unassisted goal.

Garrett Reams went on to score a goal, thanks to an Edgar Salazar assist to give Sulphur Springs a 3-1 lead. Texas High would score one more goal, but the Wildcats walked away with the 3-2 win.

“We always like to keep it close and interesting when we’re at T-High,” coach Alexi Upton said.

The win improves their record to 10- 6-1 on the season, and makes them 1-2 in district play. Sulphur Springs is on the road again this Friday, as they travel to Longview to take on Pine Tree. The varsity is set to begin at 7:15 p.m.
