WHITEHOUSE— The Wildcats ran into tennis competition just as hot as the scorching August sun. The Sulphur Springs tennis team fell in action Thursday and Friday in the Whitehouse tournament. A total of eight teams participated in the event. Sulphur Springs fell 10-9 against the Panthers of Bullard; the Wildcats were whipped 16-3 by a strong Jacksonville team and lost 12-7 against the Lobos from Longview. In the second match Friday, Sulphur Springs drew a bye. “Our team performed well in extremely warm conditions. The temperature reached over 100 degrees on the courts,” said Tony Martinez, Sulphur Springs head tennis coach. The Wildcats will host Pleasant Grove Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at the SSHS Tennis Complex.
