For a vast majority of the season three, local schools have been a staple in the weekly updates to the TABC UIL rankings. This week is no different, with all three schools moving up for the first time.

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats, who have not only been in the top 25 all season, but have spent most of that in the top 10, are back there this week. After spending two straight weeks at No. 9, the Wildcats move up one spot to No. 8.

Last week Sulphur Springs got two big wins, beating Royse City, 69-43, and Lindale, 67-41. Both of those wins came on the road. The Wildcats have been as high as No. 3 in class 5A this season.

The Saltillo Lions move up for a second consecutive week, coming in at No. 17 this week. In the past two weeks the Lions have climbed from No. 19 to No. 18 and now from No. 18 to No. 17.

The Lions are currently undefeated in district play and riding a seven-game winning streak. During that stretch, Saltillo has beaten Avinger, 72-37, Bloomburg, 75-34, Sulphur Bluff, 54-35, Avery, 56-40, Union Hill, 66-39, Avinger, 49-34, and Bloomburg, 59-25.

After spending backto-back weeks at No. 13, the Saltillo Lady Lions have climbed two spots, coming in at No. 11 this week. The Lady Lions have had a very impressive season, entering the week with a record of 26-7 and 8-0 in district play. The Lady Lions have already won one game this week, beating Bloomburg, 80-10, on Tuesday night.
