Teams return from Christmas break

COMO-PICKTON LADY EAGLES

The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles look to return from Christmas break after a very strong start to the season, winning their last game against Quitman by a final score of 40-28. The Lady Eagles have a pair of home games this week, starting Tuesday when they host Alba-Golden at 4 p.m. The Lady Eagles will then host Boles Friday beginning at 6 p.m., hoping to begin district play with a pair of wins.

COMO-PICKTON EAGLES

The Como-Pickton Eagles have gotten off to a strong start this season, going 8-5 in their first 13 games, and winning six of their last eight games. The Eagles will have just one game this week, a road game against Paris Home School. The junior varsity boys will begin at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow.

CUMBY LADY TROJANS

Despite their last games being on Dec. 22, the Cumby Lady Trojans have started their season with a lot of momentum, going 5-1 to open the season. The Lady Trojans will have a pair of road district games this week, starting Tuesday when they travel to Boles. Cumby will then travel to Cooper Friday, with the varsity set to begin at 6 p.m. in both games.

MILLER GROVE LADY HORNETS

The Miller Grove Lady Hornets will look to open district play with some momentum this week, with a pair of games at home. The Lady Hornets will host Ector Tuesday and Savoy Friday with both games beginning at 6 p.m. Their Friday game against Savoy will also be their homecoming game.

MILLER GROVE HORNETS

Much like the Lady Hornets, the Miller Grove boys team will look to pick up a pair of district wins this week, including the Tuesday game against Ector and the homecoming game against Savoy Friday. The Hornets will also have one extra game, hosting PTAA Saturday at 3 p.m.

NORTH HOPKINS LADY PANTHERS

Despite getting off to a slow start, the North Hopkins Lady Panthers will look to open district play with a pair of wins. The Lady Panthers host Cooper Tuesday, with the junior varsity beginning at 4:30 p.m., before traveling to Alba-Golden Friday. Their Friday game against Alba-Golden is set to begin at 5 p.m.

NORTH HOPKINS PANTHERS

The North Hopkins Panthers have found some momentum lately, picking up a pair of wins at home against Campbell and Simms Bowie. They will hope to carry that momentum over into their final week of non-district games. North Hopkins hosts CHESS Tuesday before traveling to Celeste Friday. In both games the varsity team will begin around 7:15 p.m.

SALTILLO LADY LIONS

The Saltillo Lady Lions, currently ranked No. 8 in Class 1A, have gotten off to a very strong start, opening their season with a 9-3 record. The Lady Lions will look to keep their strong play up with a pair of district games this week, with a road game agains Yantis Tuesday and a home game against Avinger Friday. Their Tuesday game against Yantis will begin at 5:30 p.m. On Friday the junior varsity boys begin at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity girls to follow.

SALTILLO LIONS

The Saltillo Lions didn’t start their season the way they hoped, but they still remain in the top 10 in the TABC rankings and have won each of their last three games, including a 81-28 blowout over Savory and a 59-8 win in their district opener against Bloomburg. They will look to remain undefeated in district play with the same schedule as the Lady Lions.

SULPHUR BLUFF LADY BEARS

Despite opening district play with a pair of losses, the Lady Bears will look to return to their winning ways with a pair of home games this week. Tuesday the Lady Bears host Boles with the junior varsity girls beginning at 4 p.m. with the junior varsity boys, varsity girls and varsity boys all to follow. Friday they host Union Hill with the junior varsity boys starting things at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity girls and varsity boys to follow.

SULPHUR BLUFF BEARS

Picked to finish third in their district and to make the playoffs by TABC, the Sulphur Bluff Bears have opened their season fairly strong, including a 7-6 record and wins in both of their first two district games. The Bears beat Yantis 84-34 in their district opener, followed by a 51- 49 win over Avinger. The Bears will look to keep that momentum with the same schedule as the Lady Bears this week.

SULPHUR SPRINGS LADY CATS

Coming off a big 41-12 win over Longview Pine Tree to pick up their first district win of the season, the Lady Cats will look to use that momentum coming into this week with a pair of games. First Sulphur Springs will travel to Hugo for a non-district match before hosting Hallsville Friday for their third district game of the season. In both games the junior varsity is set to begin at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow.

SULPHUR SPRINGS WILDCATS

The Sulphur Springs Wildcats have been on fire as of late, winning seven of their last nine games, including a 19-point win in their district opener against Longview Pine Tree. The Wildcats have a pair of road games this week, starting with a trip to Nacogdoches Tuesday, before traveling to Hallsville Friday. The Wildcats will also host Longview Saturday for their third district game of the season. In all three games the freshman team will begin at 5 p.m. with the junior varsity and varsity teams to follow.
