AUSTIN—The UIL released new information Friday regarding the eligibility for athletes who participate in remote learning.

As the upcoming school year approaches, schools are preparing themselves for a variety of learning options. The UIL has provided new information related to how these options will effect student eligibility.

Students participating in remote learning offered by their school district will be able to participate in UIL activities, as long as they meet all other eligibility requirements. Students must be enrolled in the remote learning options through their own school district. Schools may develop their own policies with additional requirements for participation. Any additional requirements determined by school districts within Hopkins County will be published in upcoming editions of the News-Telegram as the information becomes available.

The UIL acknowledged this is fluid situation and that additional information will come should further changes take place.
