CUMBY- After going almost a full month without playing a game, the Cumby Trojans are scheduled to travel to Quinlan Friday for a district match against Boles. The Trojans last game was a 27-12 loss to Santo on Sept. 10.

Cumby entered this season with high hopes and high expectations, after being picked by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine to win District 9-2A. Running back Jacob Demdio was also named the Preseason Offensive MVP by the magazine.

It’s been a rough start to the season for both teams, as due to COVID-19 both teams have had to cancel multiple games on their schedule. Boles enters the week with just one more game played than Cumby and a 1-1 record. Boles opened their season with a 34-0 win against Overton followed by a 35-0 loss to Hawkins. They have not played since Sept. 11.

The Trojans will hope to begin district play on a strong note, with a win over Boles. After that they will stay on the road for another week with a trip to Maud. The Trojans will have their home opener on Friday, Oct. 23 against Clarksville.

Their final two games of the season are a trip to Simms Bowie on Oct. 30 and then their senior night home game against Detroit on Nov. 6.

Last season Cumby went 8-4 and made it to the area round of the playoffs. They were able to cruise past Simms Bowie by a score of 50-28 in the opening round before losing to Grapeland, 54-22.
