Como-Pickton and Cumby will both have a break from district play this week.

CUMBY AT TEXAS WIND ACADEMY

The Trojans are trying to regroup from a tough district loss. Cumby will trek to Waco for a 7 p.m. Friday game at Texas Wind Academy.

The game is a replacement to fill the slot in district play left vacant when Campbell did not field a team.

Cumby, 4-3, 0-1, is coming off a 23-6 loss at the hands of Muenster.

“Our kids will bounce back quicker than I will from the tough loss. Muenster did a great job, and we played hard and with heart. Texas Wind won the state home school championship in 2017. They run a spread offense and a 3-4 defense,” said Tom Dracos, Cumby head coach.

Cumby is led into the game by quarterback Cameron Scott who has scored 19 times and rushed for 946 yards. The defense is led by Colby Lindsey with 87 tackles.

COMO-PICKTON OPEN

The Eagles are spending time in places other than just the football field this week.

Como-Pickton, 4-3, 1-0 in district, is enjoying a week off from the district grind.

“We will be spending study hall time this week to be sure that everyone is passing. We’ve cut practice time back a little, trying to get some minor injuries healed up. We will practice each day on fundamentals and position assignments and get better this week. We will be working towards Honey Grove too,” said Ronnie Green, Como-Pickton head football coach.
