Body

The newest update to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll for the week of Jan. 25 was recently released, and a number of local schools continue to be acknowledged for their strong play this season.

SALTILLO LADY LIONS

After weeks of being stuck in the No. 7 spot, last week saw the Saltillo Lady Lions climb into the top 5 for the first time all season. The Lady Lions stayed put this week, still sitting at No. 5, despite not losing a game in over a month. The last loss for Saltillo was against Class 2A’s No. 11 LaPoynor back on Dec. 19, and since then the Lady Lions have won 10 consecutive games, the closest of which was by 21 points. With just two games remaining on their schedule, Saltillo will be entering postseason play with a ton of momentum.

SALTILLO LIONS

The Saltillo Lions are the one team we have in the polls that fell this week, dropping from No. 11 in last week’s poll to No. 12 this week. The Lions are 12-7 and are undefeated through their first seven district games. In district play the Lions are averaging 75 points per game while only allowing 36.

MILLER GROVE HORNETS

After being newly added to the rankings last week the Miler Grove Hornets proved they were worth the recognition. Last week the Hornets beat No. 23 Dodd City, and in return they were awarded with the No. 23 spot in this weeks rankings. With a record of 13-3, Miller Grove has the opportunity to continue to climb before the regular season ends.
