Lady Lions remain in top 10

The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches released their new rankings for the week of Jan. 11. After climbing back in the top 25 for the first time since the preseason, the Miller Grove Hornets once again find themselves on the outside looking in, due to a loss to No. 18 Ector. Their district mate Dodd City is No. 23 in this weeks rankings.

SALTILLO LADY LIONS

The Saltillo Lady Lions have been having a great season, and the rankings reflect that, with them sitting at No. 7 this week. The Lady Lions are currently riding a seven-game winning streak. In that time they have beaten Liberty-Eylau; 63-46, North Hopkins, 93-14; Hooks, 58-24; Sulphur Bluff, 71-35; Yantis, 64-18; Avinger, 70- 24; and Union Hill, 79-6. Their remaining schedule features only teams they have already beaten once, giving them a strong chance to ride their winning streak out through the rest of the regular season.

SALTILLO LIONS

Although the Lions have not had quite the success the Lady Lions have had, they’ve managed to bounce back from a slow 1-4 start, to get their record at 9-7, and 4-0 in district play. Their strong play over the last few weeks has kept them at No. 11 in this week’s rankings. Their remaining schedule consist of two games against Sulphur Bluff and then matches against Yantis, Avinger, Union Hill and Avery, all of which they have already beaten. With the playoffs approaching, Saltillo has gotten hot at the right time to enter the postseason with a ton of momentum and a high ranking.
