Body

The Jan. 4 update to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches weekly rankings were released, with both Saltillo teams staying in the top 10, and Miller Grove being the newest edition to the rankings.

SALTILLO LADY LIONS

The Saltillo Lady Lions have been a top 10 team all season long, and the week is no different, with the Lady Lions coming in at No. 8 in this weeks rankings. The Lady Lions have started to hit their stride, winning eight of their past nine games, including wins in their first two district games of the season. All of their wins in that span have been by double-digits, and their one loss came at the hands of LaPoynor who is currently the No. 9 team in Class 2A.

SALTILLO LIONS

Still looking to find their rhythm, the Saltillo Lions find themselves at No. 10 in this weeks rankings. After opening their season with a 2-5 record, the Lions have bounced back, winning four of their last six games to get back within one game of .500. Saltillo will hope to carry the momentum they’ve gained over the last few weeks into the district portion of their schedule.

MILLER GROVE HORNETS

After opening the season ranked No. 24, the Miller Grove Hornets lost their season opener and hadn’t seen their name in the top 25 since. The Hornets answered back, winning eight of their last nine games to put together a 8-2 record and landing them at No. 25. Miller Grove has racked up big wins this season, with over half of their wins coming by double-digits. The Hornets will have their homecoming game Friday against district opponent Savoy. The varsity girls are set to begin at 6 p.m. with the varsity boys to follow.
