MINEOLA — Sulphur Springs teams had a dominating performance Saturday, Aug. 31 with the girls winning the Mineola Invitational meet while the Wildcats took fourth.

“The Lady Cats placed first in the 5A-6A division. All nine ladies who ran were faster than the week before. They are led by Sydney Washburn, who places second overall with her best time of the season,” said Ross Hicks, Sulphur Springs head cross country coach.

“The boys finished fourth and were led by senior Christian Palomino who placed third overall in a season-best time,” Hicks said.

“I was pleased with the progress both teams made from our first meet to our second meet. We are beginning to peak in our mileage and increase the speed as we progress into the season, This will allow us to perform our best during the championship season in late October and early November,” Hicks remarked.
