Sulphur Springs fell to 1-6 overall, 1-4 in district
with a 41-14 loss Friday, Oct. 18 at Corsicana
in high school football action.
The Tigers advanced to 6-2 on the year, 5-1 in district.
The Wildcats played well early despite falling behind 14-0.
Sulphur Springs responded with two short scoring runs by Caden Davis
to cap scoring drives. At the half, the Tigers just had a 21-14 lead.
The second half was all Corsicana as they went on a 20-0 scoring outburst.
The Tigers held Sulphur Springs out of the end zone in the final two quarters.
Sophomore quarterback Solomon James paced the Tigers with two touchdown passes.
James also added scoring run from 7-yards out with just 47 ticks left in the game
which gave Corsicana the 41-14 win.
Sulphur Springs will return home to host rival Greenville on Oct. 25 at Gerald Prim Stadium.
The Lions are 4-3 overall, 3-2 in district. Greenville was edged 17-14 by Royse City on Oct. 18.
Cumby won 52-6 in Waco at Texas Wind in a non-district football game on Friday, Oct. 18.
The Trojans are idle until Nov. 1 Senior Night when they host Tioga
at Frazier-Lawrence Field. Cumby is 5-3 on the year, 0-1 in district.
Como-Pickton did not play on Oct. 18
They return to action hosting undefeated Honey Grove on Oct. 25
at Ron Heflin Field.
The Warriors are 8-0 for the year. Como-Pickton is 4-3, 1-0.
