SS teams compete in Tyler

TYLER — The Sulphur Springs girls took ninth and boys finished 16th in the Tyler Lee Invitational Cross Country meet Saturday. Places and times for Wildcat runners were:

• 17. Christian Palomino, 17:10;

• 42. Jose Mejia, 17:56;

• 87. Evan Patrick, 19:01;

• 106. Camden Fuller, 19:30;

• 119. Ricardo Torres, 19:53;

• 123; Kyle Schnell, 20:04; and

• 129. Alan Hernandez, 20:12. Lady Cats places and times were:

• 22. Sydney Washburn, 21:51:

• 26. Laney Hurst, 22:02;

• 58. Maurie Flecker, 23:19;

• 60. Mattie Bridges, 23:27;

• 76. Makayla Jimmerson, 24:05;

• 90. Emily Soto, 24:30;

• 104. Jessica Yanez, 24:57; and

• 131. Ashley Noe, 26:30. The teams will compete Saturday at UTA in the Gerald Richey Invitational.

Lady Cats win over Rains, 3-1

The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats took a home district varsity non-district volleybal win over Emory Rains Tuesday. The Lady Cats took the match 3-1, winning by scores of 25-19, 25-20, 17-25 and 28-26. Sadie Washburn turned in a stellar game with 21 kills. Brooklyn Burnside added 10 kills. In junior varsity action, Sulphur Springs won 25-18 and 25-10. The SSHS ninth graders were idle. Sulphur Springs, 17-9, will play Friday at Texarkana Pleasant Grove. The varsity and JV will begin play at 4:30 p.m.
