Saltillo varsity boys split in Lipan Tournament

The Saltillo Lions went 2-2 in the Li-pan Tournament over the weekend. They started off hot, winning 49-32 over Joaquin with Chris Boekhorst giving them 30 points. Andrew Redburn had 11, Coy Collins 4, and Dillon Beadle and Colby McCoy each had 2.

In game 2, free throws got the best of Saltillo, as they shot just 3-9 from the line in their 38-29 loss to Jim Ned. Boekhorst still found a way to have 16 points in the low-scoring affair. The only other scorers were Redburn with 11 and Collins with 2.

Saltillo was able to find their offense again in game 3, but it wasn’t enough. They fell short to Glen Rose, 52-43. Boekhorst led the way again with 20 points. Gunner Tarver and Andrew Redburn each had 8. Dillon Beadle finished with 5 and Coy Collins with 2.

In game 4 Saltillo, got a bounce-back win, defeating Quitman 54-48. Chris Boekhorst had another great game, finishing with 26 points, and Andrew Red-burn had his third double-digit game of the weekend, ending with 15. Dillon Beadle and Coy Collins each had 4, Gunner Tarver 3 and Collby McCoy 2.

The Lions are now 6-3 and will host Bland on Tuesday, Dec. 10 with JV Boys starting at 6:15 with the Varsity boys to follow.
