The All-District awards for Class 1A District-24 were announced, and multiple players from Saltillo and Sulphur Bluff were honored.

Junior Chris Boekhorst was named the MVP of the district. Boekhorst had a very impressive campaign and was a big part of the 30-5 Saltillo season. The Lions went 10-0 in district play and advanced to the Regional Quarter Finals after defeating Henrietta Midway 64-44 in the Area round of the playoffs.

Boekhorst wasn’t the only Lion to earn a superlative award, as sophomore Andrew Redburn was named the Offensive Player of the Year. Redburn was a very consistent contributor this season for the Lions, scoring in double-digits and having 20-point performances.

Representing the Bears on the All-District First Team were senior Trayton South and junior Montana Hurley. The Bears finished the season with a 20-12 record and earned a trip to the playoffs. Freshman Gunner Tarver from Saltillo was also named to the First Team.

Saltillo and Sulphur Bluff each had one player named to the All-District Second Team as well, as junior Shan Johnson was named for the Bears. Senior Dillon Beadle represented Saltillo.

Sulphur Bluff was the only school in the district to have multiple players on the All-District First Team, and Saltillo took home two of the four superlative awards; Avery’s Kagen Mcguire won Defensive Player of the Year, and Avinger’s Judson Jones was named Newcomer of the Year.
