State | Cross County

A total of five cross country programs in the Hopkins County will be sending runners to the UIL State Cross County Meet in Round Rock today, Saturday, Nov. 9.

Topping the Class 1A competitors will be the team from Miller Grove.

The Hornets feature the top two times heading into the event.

Jorja Bessonett was timed at 16:52 on Oct. 28, when she won first place at regional. She competed in state last year, taking ninth place.

Isaiah Billingsley, also from Miller Grove, was first at regional with a time of 15:20. He finished ninth in the state last year for the Hornets.

Participating in the State UIL Cross County championships Nov. 9 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock include:

Miller Grove: Isaiah Billingsley, Lexton Sly, Kobe Robertson, Riley Hasten, Tanner Hensley, Anthony Lester, Lance Davis, Kylee Saldana, Jolee Fox, Lauren Bullard and Jorja Bessonett.

Saltillo: Ofelia Cabrera, Bianca Castro, Yadhira Alonso, Makensa Morris, Kristina Wade, Jocelyn Ochoa, Chandler Bain, Raegan Speir and Brianna Tawil.

Como-Pickton: Maliyah Diaz, Aylin Gonzalez, Hannah Warren, Breanna Warren, Bailey Neal, Shelby Speed, Lexi Busby and Kara Tifft

North Hopkins: Jonathan Hatley and Mario Perez

Sulphur Bluff: Bailey Neal
