The Jan. 13 update to the TABC UIL rankings have been released, and three local teams that have been staples in this year’s rankings are all featured once again.

Sulphur Springs, who was No. 3 in Class 5A last week, has dropped one spot to No. 4, despite winning their one game last week against Sherman 81-40. They were supposed to play Friday night as well, but the game was pushed back due to weather.

Both the Saltillo boys and girls teams have been in the top 25 for a majority of the season, and the girls team has now climbed to No. 15. They are currently riding a seven-game winning streak with wins over Wills Point 52-30, Miller Grove 35-15, Greenville Christian 56-47, Clarksville 67-37, Quinlan Ford 52-26, Avery 61-20 and Union Hill 82-7.

The boys team has stayed about where they’ve been the past few weeks, coming in at No. 19. They’ve had an impressive season as well and were riding a 14-game winning streak coming into this past weekend.

All three teams are now into the district portion of their schedules and will be looking to take the momentum they’ve gotten from the preseason and use it to make strong runs in both district play and the playoffs.
