MILLER GROVE — The Miller Grove Hornets hosted Dodd City Friday night. It was a district rematch from their game on Jan. 14, when Dodd City won, 62-35.

The game opened with Dodd City scoring 5 straight points before Kobe Robertson hit a 3-pointer to get things going for the Hornets. Two minutes later, Robertson hit another 3-pointer to make the score 7-6, Dodd City. Miller Grove kept things close in the remainder of the quarter and trailed just 13-9 to start the second quarter.

Dodd City opened the second frame with a 7-0 run to push their lead to 20-9 with just 3 minutes remaining in the half. Coach Gary Billingsley called a timeout to make adjustments, and the team responded. Miller Grove finished the half with a 7-0 run of their own with Kobe Robertson making a layup in the final seconds, making the score 20-16 at the half.

Dodd City opened the second half strong and controlled the entire quarter, posting 15 points in the frame while allowing Miller Grove to score just 9. The fourth quarter saw much of the same, with Dodd City winning the game, 48-32.

Kobe Robertson led the way for Miller Grove, finishing with 20 points and hitting four 3-pointers, with three of them coming in the first half. Other scorers for the Hornets were Matt Brignon, who had 4 points, Tanner Hensley, 4, Lexton Sly, 3, Jacob George, 2, and Kagen Scott, 1.

The Lady Hornets also took on Dodd City in a game they lost 79-9. Jorja Bessonett had 6 of the 9 points, knocking down a pair of 3-pointers. Kaley Dorantes added another 2 points, and Lauren Bullard had 1.

Miller Grove will play again Tuesday, Feb. 11 in Savoy. The JV boys start at 6 p.m. with both the varsity girls and varsity boys to follow. This will be the final regular season game for the varsity girls.
