The Dallas Mavericks played their last game before the annual NBA All Star break Wednesday, grabbing a 87-78 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, despite missing superstar Luka Doncic.

Dallas was led by big man Kristaps Porzingis and backup forward Tim Hardaway Jr. who each finished with a game-high 19 points. Porzingis also had game-high’s in rebounds with 13 and point differential with +16.

Josh Richardson had a strong outing as well with Doncic out, tallying 16 points while grabbing six rebounds and racking up four steals. Point guard Jalen Brunson also finished in double-digits, ending up with 11 points, six rebounds and four assists.

The Mavericks currently sit as the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference, with a record of 18-16, and have been red hot as of late. As recently as Feb. 1, Dallas was just 8-13 and ridding a six-game losing streak.

Dallas has answered back by winning 10 of their last 13 games, fighting their way back into the playoff picture. As of Thursday, Dallas sits just two games behind the Portland Trail Blazers who are currently the No. 5 seed in the conference.

Despite their recent success, rumors still swirl around the Mavericks as the trade deadline swiftly approaches. Porzingis, who has played in 20 of their 34 games this season has been a huge topic of trade discussions.

In the games Porzingis has played this season he’s been exactly what the Mavericks need, giving Doncic a legitimate second scoring option. Porzingis is averaging 20.2 points per game on 47% shooting, while also grabbing eight rebounds.

Whether or not Dallas makes any moves before the trade deadline will be something fans keep a close eye on, but they are hopeful the Mavericks will continue their strong play once they return from their break. Dallas is set to return to action Wednesday with a home game against the 18-13 San Antonio Spurs. The game is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. and will air on NBATV.
