Funeral services for Lou Wilda Leewright Bassham, 80, of the Nelta Community,, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2019 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Newsom and Rev. C.J. Duffy officiating. Interment will follow at Nelta Cemetery with Cory Tubb, Will Wilson, Jarret Wilson, Markus Bassham, Jordan Bassham, Tel Pitcock and Cody Nixon serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Patterson, Gary Stevens and Keith Bland. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m., prior to service time.

Lou passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019 at her residence.

She was born July 17, 1939 in the Nelta Community, the daughter of Minor Hussey “Perch” Leewright and Vesta Uris Palmer Leewright. She graduated from Sulphur Bluff High School, where she played defense on the basketball team. She was a big basketball fan and loved to cook. She married Jerry Thomas Bassham on April 14, 1957 in Idabel, Oklahoma. She worked as a receiving clerk for Hopkins County Memorial Hospital for 29 and a half years. She was a member of the Sulphur Bluff Baptist Church.

She is survived by husband Jerry Bassham; children Julie Tubb and husband Gary of the Nelta Community, Mark Bassham and wife Kim of Cooper, and Tony Bassham and wife Vicki of Sulphur Springs; grandchildren Cory Tubb and wife Lyndsay, Amanda Wilson and husband Will, Cassie Wilson and husband Jarret, Markus Bassham, Jordan Bassham and Shelby Killingsworth, Mikah Pitcock and husband Tel, Miranda Bassham and Cody Nixon; and great-grandchildren, Brayden Wilson, Macy Wilson, Weston Tubb, Jayden Wilson, Luke Kyle, Jolee Wilson, Paisley Bassham, Aubri Bassham, Knoxx Nixon, Bryce Tubb, Colt Pitcock and Charlee Pitcock.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
