COMO-PICKTON — The Saltillo Lions squeaked out a close 44-42 win on the road at Como-Pickton Tuesday night.

Things started off close as Saltillo led by just one at the end of the first quarter, 11-10.

The Lions struggled offensively in both the second and third quarters, just managing to score a combined 12 points, and found themselves trailing 30-23 entering the fourth quarter.

Saltillo almost doubled their point total for the night in the fourth, outscoring Como-Pickton 21-12 in the quarter and winning 44-42.

Chris Boekhorst continued his impressive season leading the team in scoring with 25 points. Other scorers for the Lions were Andrew Redburn 9, Gunner Tarver 6, Coy Collins 2 and Colby McCoy 2.

This win makes Saltillo 19-3 on the season, and they entered the week as the No. 18 team in the state. They will play again Friday Jan. 10 at North Hopkins, JV will start at 5:30 p.m. with Varsity to follow.
