Gilbreath leads with 10 points

SALTILLO - The Saltillo Lions junior high basketball team hosted Fruitvale Monday, looking for their first win of the season.

Things got off to a fast start, with the Lions getting out to a quick 16-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Lions never let their foot off the gas, adding another 20 points in the second quarter, while holding Fruitvale to just another two points in the frame.

Saltillo put up 13 points in the third quarter, and 10 points in the fourth quarter, winning the game by a final score of 59-10.

Heston Gilbreath was the leading scorer, outscoring Fruitvale by himself, putting up 14 points. Next were Eathan Reese and Tristian Rains who each had 10 points in the blowout win

Jonas Beadle had a strong game as well, putting up nine points. Other scorers for Saltillo were Rowdy Speir with six points, Tobin Potter and Adrian Don Juan who each had four points and Trey Tully who had two points.

The win makes the Lions 1-2 on the season. They will have a few weeks off before playing again on Saturday, Dec. 5 at Cooper. That game will begin at 10 a.m.
