SALTILLO — The Saltillo Lions hosted Sulphur Bluff Tuesday night in a district matchup that the Lions won 54-38.

Saltillo opened the game in control, leading 13-9 in the first quarter. Sulphur Bluff played a very close second quarter, but the Lions were still able to add to their lead by 1, making the score 24-19 at halftime.

The third quarter is when Saltillo was able to add some cushion to their lead, having their highest-scoring quarter of the night with 16 points and shutting out Sulphur Bluff for the entire frame.

Opening the fourth quarter with 40-19, Saltillo was able to take their foot off the brake a bit. Sulphur Bluff did its best to get back into the game and outscored Saltillo for the first time all evening. The Lions had built up enough of a lead though and were able to walk away with a 54-38 win.

Chris Boekhorst added another impressive game to his resume, leading the team with 24 points. Andrew Redburn was right behind him, adding 16. Dillon Beadle finished with 7 points, Gunner Tarver 5 and Coy Collins 2.
