Lions advance to Regional Quarter Final

Boekhorst, Redburn combine for 48 points

SADLER — After earning a bye in the Bi-District round of the playoffs, the Saltillo Lions traveled to Sadler to take on Henrietta Midway in the Area round on Thursday.

Midway opened the game with their best quarter of the night, posting 15 points in the opening frame. The Lions came out strong as well and were able to take a 16-15 lead into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, the Lions were able to create separation, outscoring Midway, 17-9. They went into the locker room, leading 33-24.

The Lions were able to add to their lead in the third quarter, holding Midway to just 9 points in the frame while posting 14 points of their own. Leading 47-33 to start the fourth quarter, the Lions were able to coast to a 64-44 win.

Chris Boekhorst led the way for the Lions, posting a game-high 27 points. Andrew Redburn was right behind him with a 21-point performance of his own. Other scorers for the Lions were Dillon Beadle, 7; Gunner Tarver, 4; and Colby McCoy, 2.

Saltillo advances to the Regional Quarter Final where they will take on Slidell. The time and place have yet to be determined. The win makes the Lions record 31-4 this season.
