CUMBY — The Cumby Lady Trojans picked up their second district win Tuesday night when they hosted Como-Pickton.

The game opened with the highest scoring quarter of the game, with Cumby leading 17-12 entering the second quarter.

The Lady Trojans locked Como-Pickton down, holding them to just 5 points in the frame, while adding another 17 points themselves, ending the half up 34-17.

Cumby’s offense slowed down a bit in the second half, but they were still able to outscore Como-Pickton 10-9 in the third quarter. They went 8-6 in the fourth, securing their 52-34 win.

Neely Hammond led the team with 18 points. Rylee Krotky also finished in double-digits, knocking down a pair of 3-pointers in her 10-point effort. Other scorers for the Lady Trojans were Fatima Ruiz, who had 9 points, Bre Morgan 6, Jacelyn Thornton 3, Kaylee Bloyed 2, Carly Talley 2 and Laci Steward 2.

The Lady Trojans are now 2-5 in district play.

Cumby will play again Friday, Jan. 31 at home against North Hopkins. The JV boys will start at 5 p.m. with the Varsity girls and Varsity boys to follow.
