JV wins as well
CUMBY—The Cumby Lady Trojans hosted Trinity Christian Academy on Friday for their second game of the season. Cumby swept Rivercrest in their season opener earlier in the week.
The Lady Trojans opened the game with a strong first set in which they won 25-18. TCA bounced back with as stronger second set that came down to the wire. Cumby ultimately pulled the set out, 25-21.
In the third and final set, the Lady Trojans completed their sweep, putting TCA away, 25-14.
Erin Morgan led the team with 24 assists in the match. Other notables were Ryle Krotky who had 14 digs. Tatum White and Ashlyn Hudson each had 16 kills, followed by Neely Hammond with 13.
The Junior Varsity team also swept TCA in two sets.
This win makes the Lady Trojans 2-0 on the season, winning all six sets they have played. Coverage of their Tuesday night matchup against Blue Ridge will be published in upcoming editions of the News-Telegram.
Cumby’s next game will be at home Friday against Boles. The junior varsity will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity to follow.
