CUMBY — The Lady Trojans fell just short Friday night when they hosted North Hopkins, losing 38-36.

The first quarter saw North Hopkins get off to a hot start, leading 13-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Lady Trojans weren’t able to find their offense in the second quarter either, trailing 26-15 at the half.

Cumby opened the second half with it’s best quarter of the night, posting 10 points in the frame and closing the gap to 33-25.

Cumby was able to hold North Hopkins to just 5 points in the fourth quarter, but it wouldn’t be enough. They fell just short, 38-36.

Poor shooting from the free throw line hurt Cumby, as they finished just 2-16 as a team.

Rylee Krotky led the way for Cumby, finishing with 11 points on three 3-pointers. Bre Morgan and Jocelyn Thornton each finished with 7 points. Other scorers for the Lady Trojans were Neely Hammond, 6, Carley Talley, 4, and Kaylee Bloyed, 1.

Cumby will play again Tuesday, Feb. 4 at home against Campbell. JV boys start at 5 p.m. with varsity girls and varsity boys to follow.
