Lady Trojans keep rolling with area win

Morgan posts 22 assists, 18 digs

GLADEWATER- The Cumby Lady Trojans traveled to Gladewater for their area round playoff matchup against Timpson. Cumby got to the area round after defeating Maud 3-1 in the bi-district round.

The game started with a close first set that the Lady Trojans were able to take by a score of 25-21. They answered back with an even better second set, winning 25-17.

Cumby needed extra time to take the third set, but they were able to complete the three-set sweep, winning the set, 26-24.

Sophomore Erin Morgan led the way, having a great game on both sides of the ball. Morgan led the team in assists with 22 and kills with 13. She also had an impressive 18 digs.

Behind her was Ashlyn Hudson who had a great all-around game as well. Hudson posted 10 kills, four digs, one block and one assist in the 3-0 win. Neely Hammond had a strong performance, finishing the game with 10 digs, nine kills and four blocks.

Leading the team defensively was senior Rylee Krotky, who had a game-high 22 digs, as well as a pair of kills. Sophomore Heather McCraw had a strong defensive performance as well, finishing with seven digs, five blocks and five kills.

Juniors Azlyn Hornsby and Dayli Sims also contributed to the Lady Trojans win. Hornsby provided the team with three kills, two digs and a block, while Sims had a pair of digs and one block.
