CUMBY — The Cumby Lady Trojans took on Campbell Tuesday night at home in a game that came down to the wire.

The first quarter saw a close game in which neither team was able to pull ahead from the other. Starting the second quarter with a tied ball game, the Lady Trojans took over, outscoring Campbell 11-1 in the frame to take a 22-12 lead at the half.

Campbell rallied back in the third quarter, outscoring Cumby, 17-8, cutting Cumby’s lead to 30-29. In a close fourth quarter, Cumby was only able to score 7 points in the frame and lost, 42-37.

Neely Hammond was the leading scorer for the Lady Trojans, finishing with 17 points. Other scorers for the Lady Trojans were Rylee Krotky, who had 8 points, Bre Morgan, 5, Fatima Ruiz, 3, Jacelyn Thornton, 2, and Laci Steward, 2.

Cumby plays again Friday, Feb. 7 at Boles. The JV girls will start at 4:30 p.m. with the JV boys, varsity girls and varsity boys to follow.
