Mathis tallies 19 kills

NORTH HOPKINS— The North Hopkins Lady Panthers hosted Alba-Golden Tuesday for their senior night game. The Lady Panthers entered the game with a 10-11 record, looking to get back to .500 on the season. The two teams faced each other on Oct. 2, when the Lady Panthers won in straight sets.

Looking to do the same thing Tuesday, North Hopkins took the opening set by a score of 25-18. Alba-Golden was able to make the second set a bit closer, but the Lady Panthers won that one as well, 25-20. North Hopkins was able to complete both the three-set sweep and the series sweep, taking the final set by a score of 25-17.

Raylee Mathis led the team offensively with an impressive 19-kill game. She also had a pair of blocks and two aces. The next leading attacker for North Hopkins was Selene Leon, who had 11 points, four of which came via kills.

Setting things up for them was Kortni Ferrell, who racked up 24 assists in the 3-0 win. Ferrell also had six points and a pair of kills.

Leading the way defensively was Abigail Whaley, who finished with 12 digs. Just behind her was Jackie Perez with eight digs, as well as six points.

Other notables for North Hopkins were Molly Wiser with 10 points, four aces and one kill, Mattie Pogue with three kills and two blocks, Natalie Perry with two blocks and one kill, and Sarah Attaway, who had one kill.

The win gives the Lady Panthers a record of 11-11 on the season. Through nine games of district play, they are 5-4 with a 3-2 record against 2A schools.
