NORTH HOPKINS— The North Hopkins Lady Panthers hosted Quinlan Boles Tuesday for their first in a pair of district matches this season.
The Lady Panthers took an early 4-3 lead in the opening set and never looked back. North Hopkins went on a 8-2 run to give them a 17-9, before taking the set, 25-15.
The second set saw Boles take a quick 2-1 lead, holding on to it for a huge majority of the set. With the Lady Panthers trailing, 24-19, they scored seven consecutive points to take the set in extra time, 26-24.
After dropping the first two sets, Boles began their comeback, taking a 5-4 lead. They went on a 6-0 run to boost their lead to 11-4 and kept their lead strong the rest of the way. Boles was able to force a fourth set, winning the third, 25-17.
In the fourth set Boles scored the first point and immediately began building their lead. The Lady Panthers found themselves trailing by double digits at 18-8. They fought hard to get back in it but dropped the set, 25-16.
North Hopkins was able to take the first point of the fifth and final set, but Boles scored six unanswered points and were able to cruise the rest of the way. The Lady Panthers were able to get it as close as 12-7, but Boles would finish out the set, winning 15-8, to take the 3-2 win in the match.
The loss makes the third consecutive for the Lady Panthers, after losing 3-1 to Miller Grove and 3-0 to Fruitvale.
