Lady Hornets swept on the road Tuesday

BLUE RIDGE—The Miller Grove Lady Hornets traveled to Blue Ridge Tuesday hoping to continue their winning streak. The Lady Hornets had won three consecutive matches leading into Tuesday’s game.

Miller Grove got off to a slow start, losing their first two sets by scores of 25-8 and 25-6. The Lady Hornets were able to show some fight in the third set but ultimately lost 25-13.

This loss was their first in two weeks. Since their Aug. 14 loss to New Boston, Miller has beaten Rivercrest, 3-0; Whitewright, 2-1; and Lone Oak, 2-0.

Coverage of Miller Grove’s Friday matchup against Lone Oak will be published in upcoming editions of the News-Telegram. Starting next week, Miller Grove will have five consecutive road games, including trips to Commerce, Wolfe City, Edgewood, Alba-Golden and Cumby. Their next home game will be Tuesday, Sept. 15 against Boles. It will be their third district game of the season.
