QUINLAN- The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles traveled to Quinlan Tuesday to take on Quinlan Boles for the second in a pair of district matches this season. The Lady Eagles won the first matchup between the two teams back on Jan. 8 by a final score of 54-44.

After dropping their last two games to Cooper and Alba-Golden the Lady Eagles bounced back Tuesday, picking up the road win, 45-37. The win was their 16th on the season and gives them a 4-3 record in district play. They are currently in third place in their district, trailing Alba-Golden and Cooper.

“My kids come out and play hard,” coach Brandi Crouch said. “They have learned so much about the game and have learned to love the game as well.

“Most schools have kids playing and learning the knowledge of the game when they are in elementary school and junior high, but this group that I have was never taught at a young age, to see how far they’ve come is honestly astonishing,” Crouch added. “They’ve learned to trust the process and just give it their all. Sometimes they don’t even know what they are doing, they just do it because I ask them to.”

Addison Monk was the leading scorer in Tuesday’s win, finishing with 16 points. Jut behind her was Lexi Busby with 12 points. Mattison Buster provided nine points of her own, and Kara Tifft ended with five points.

“We still have a lot to accomplish this season,” Crouch said. “So if you haven’t gotten to see them play, get out and do so.”

The Lady Eagles have two games remaining in their season, a road game Tuesday against Cumby and their home finale Friday against Cooper. In both games the junior varsity team is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity team to follow.
