COMO-PICKTON— The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles hosted the Pioneer Technology & Art Academy of Greenville Tuesday for their second district match of the season. The Lady Eagles were looking for their first district win after losing their district opener to Fruitvale on Friday, Sept. 11.

The Lady Eagles opened the first set with a lot of momentum, scoring six straight points to give themselves a 9-1 lead early. Four of the points in that run came via serving aces from senior Shakela Sims.

Freshman Addison Monk scored back-toback points late in the set to take a 20-5 lead, forcing PTAA to use a timeout. Como-Pickton finished the set, scoring five of the final six points to take the set, 25-6.

The second set started out with both teams trading points back and forth until PTAA used a timeout early, trailing 6-4. The Lady Eagles came out of the timeout and went on a 11-2 run, giving themselves a 17-6 lead and forcing PTAA to use their second timeout.

Como-Pickton scored the first point out of the timeout on an ace from Monk. The Lady Eagles allowed just two more points in the set, winning 25-8.

Early in the third set, junior Chelsey Osborne scored three consecutive points on aces, giving Como-Pickton a quick 6-1 lead. The Lady Eagles went on to dominate the rest of the way, completing the three-set sweep by taking the third set, 25-10.
