The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats hosted Mount Pleasant Friday night for a rematch of their Feb. 18 district game. Mount Pleasant won the first time around, 3-1, in Mount Pleasant.

The Lady Cats entered the match after a pair of road wins against Greenville and Lindale. Rebekah Stanley started the scoring for the Lady Cats on an unassisted goal. Ashley Noe followed her, scoring on an assist from Janine Yamaguchi. Finally, Stanley was able to put the game away, scoring on a free kick as Sulphur Springs beat Mount Pleasant, 3-2.

“I’m very proud of the girls. They played an amazing game tonight,” Coach Javier Aguayo said.

The JV team lost 3-0.

“We had a lot of JV girls sick tonight, so this affected us a lot. They are a young group and have a lot to learn,” Aguayo said.

They Lady Cats are currently in second place in the district.

They will host Texas High on Tuesday, March 10 with the JV starting at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity to follow. They will travel to Royse City on Tuesday, March 17 for their final regular season game.

“We have to continue to work and keep our heads in the game,” Aguayo added.

The March 10 game against Texas High is their final home game of the season and senior night.
