The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats hosted Princeton in a non-district game Tuesday night in which they fell short 4-3.

The Lady Cats got off to a hot start controlling the first half and leading 2-0 at halftime.

The first goal was scored by Janine Yamaguchi off an assist from Rebekah Stanley. Ashley Noe followed her with a goal that was deflected off the goalkeeper, leading to a Noe shot from inside the box.

Sulphur Springs came out of the half and kept the momentum going with Rebekah Stanley scoring from an assist by Lois Rocha to give them a 3-0 lead.

Although the Lady Cats would go on to lose 4-3, coach Javier Aguayo was pleased with their performance.

“The girls came out playing with confidence and controlled the first half,” he said. “I am very proud of our girls, because they showed that they can go out and compete against great players and teams. Princeton is a contender to win their district this year.”
