TEXARKANA—The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats traveled to Texarkana Friday to face Texas High for their first in a pair of district matchups. The two will face each other again in Sulphur Springs on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Texas High took the first set fairly easily, winning 25-19. The Lady Cats pushed the next two sets to extra time but would fall by a score of 28-26 in each.

Leading the way offensively for the Lady Cats was senior Sadie Washburn, who had a game-high 19 kills. She also had seven digs, three aces and an assist in the game.

Behind her was junior Brooklynn Burnside who had eight kills and three blocks in the match. She also record one dig.

Setting things up for them was junior Peyton Hammack who had an impressive 33 assists. The next closest was Lauren Allred from Texas High who had 18 assists. Hammack also had nine digs, a pair of kills and an ace in the 3-0 loss.

Other notables for the Lady Cats were junior Parris Pickett and sophomore Addisyn Wall. Pickett had five digs, one kill and one assist, while Wall had seven digs and four kills.

Senior Bre’Asia Ivery recorded eight digs for Sulphur Springs, while Nylah Lindley provided four digs, three blocks and two kills. Senior Caroline

Hurley posted a pair of kills and one block. The loss makes the fourth straight for the Lady Cats, previously falling to Princeton, Forney, Wylie East and now Texas High.

The next two games for Sulphur Springs will be at home. They will host Longview Pine Tree this Friday and Hallsville on Friday, Oct. 16. Both of those games the varsity is set to begin at 4 p.m. with the junior varsity and freshman teams to follow.
