The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats hosted Longview on Friday for their regular season finale. The Lady Cats won the first match between the two teams on Oct. 20, beating them in five sets.

Sulphur Springs found themselves playing from behind early, losing the first set by a score of 25-19. It was all Lady Cats from there though, taking the next three sets by scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-18.

Sadie Washburn paced the way for the Lady Cats, leading the team in kills (24) and digs (13). Washburn also had three aces and a block. Behind her was junior Brooklynn Burnside. Burnside had 10 kill and seven blocks, as well as a pair of aces and two digs.

Setting things up was junior Peyton Hammack, who had an outstanding 39-assist game. Hammack also had eight digs, four blocks, three aces and one kill in the 3-1 win.

Senior Bre’Asia Ivery had a strong all-around game, posting 10 digs and four aces. Just behind her was Parris Pickett who had seven digs, two aces and one assist.

Other contributors for the Lady Cats were Addisyn Wall; five kills and three digs, Laney Hurst; four digs and one ace, Kaslyn Hurley; three digs, two blocks and one kill, Caroline Hurley; threekills and Nylah Lindley; one kill and one dig.

Sulphur Springs ends their regular season as district champions, going 10-2 in district play. The Lady Cats also finished their regular season going undefeated at home, winning all eight games they played on their home court.

The Lady Cats will begin postseason play on Friday in a game against Tyler High School, which will be played at Grand Saline and is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
