GRAND SALINE - The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats traveled to Grand Saline Friday for their bi-district playoff match against Tyler High School.

The Lady Cats set the tone early, getting out to a quick lead and never looking back, winning the opening set by a score of 25-14.

Sulphur Springs kept their foot on the gas, taking a quick lead in the second set as well. Never letting things get too close, the Lady Cats won the second set 25-14 as well.

Looking to put the game away in straight sets, the Lady Cats had their best set of the night, winning it easily, by a score of 25-7.

Junior Brooklynn Burnside paced the Lady Cats, leading the team in kills (13) and blocks (4). Burnside also had three aces and three digs in the 3-0 win. Behind her was senior Sa die Washburn. Washburn had eight kills, eight digs and three aces.

Setting things up was junior Peyton Hammack who had an impressive 22-assist performance. Hammack also had five digs, two aces and one kill.

Defensively Sulphur Springs was led by junior Parris Pickett. Pickett had a game-high 11 digs in the straight sets win. Pickett also had one ace.

Senior Caroline Hurley had a strong game as well, posting four kills and one assist. Junior Kaslyn Hurley provided three blocks and a pair of kills as well.

Other contributors for the Lady Cats were Bre’Asia Ivery, three digs and one kill; Laney Hurst, four digs and three aces; Nylah Lindley, one assist; Mali Maeker, two digs; Addisyn Wall, three kills and three digs; and Landry Speer, who had four assists, two aces and one dig.
