SULPHUR BLUFF—The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears hosted Whitewright Friday for their second consecutive home game.
Sulphur Bluff started the match by losing a close first set. Things were even for the start of the set, but the Lady Bears would end up losing 25-17.
Sulphur Bluff tried to answer back in the second set but had no luck. Whitewright opened the game up early and never looked back, winning the second set by a score of 25-9.
Looking to avoid being swept, the Lady Bears tried their best to force a fourth set. Things were close in the beginning once again, but Whitewright was able to pull away with a decent lead and won the set 25-16 to complete the three-set sweep.
Coverage of Sulphur Bluff ’s Tuesday matchup against North Hopkins will be published in upcoming editions of the News-Telegram. They will play again Friday, having their first road game in over a week. They will travel to Sam Rayburn where they junior varsity will begin at 5 p.m. with the varsity to follow.
After that, Sulphur Bluff will enjoy a nice four-game homestand. In that stint they face Dodd City on Tuesday, Sept. 1, CHAAMP on Friday, Sept. 4, Rivercrest on Tuesday, Sept. 8 and Clarksville on Friday, Sept. 11.
