Lady Bears roll Yantis at home 74-14, to face Cumby Tuesday

Stanley nearly marks triple-double game

Coming off a Thanksgiving win at North Hopkins, the Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears notched another home win with a 74-14 performance against the Yantis Lady Owls Tuesday. The Lady Bears took a 25-6 lead in the first quarter and never looked back as they racked up 19 points in the second quarter to Yantis’ 6 to make the score 44-12. The Lady Owls did not score in the third quarter and only sunk 2 points in the fourth quarter, and Sulphur Bluff cooled off, scoring 30 total in the second half to seal the win. Defense was the name of the game with the Lady Bears marking 26 steals from Yantis with Skyler Stanley leading the way with 8 of her own. Stanley also scored 23 points, has 2 assists and recovered 19 rebounds in the game, netting her a double-double. Angel Brown led the team in assists with 6, and she also posted 4 points, 2 steals and a rebound. Ann Dorner racked up 10 points and has 2 steals, 3 rebounds and an assist in the short time she played, and Alley Collett had 14 points, 3 steals, 4 rebounds and 3 assists. The following players also posted figures during the game:

• Bailey Neal: 10 points, 2 steals and 2 rebounds

• Jada Wade: 4 points, 3 steals, 3 rebounds and 2 assists

• Dalena di Donato: 4 points, 1 steal, 3 rebounds and 1 assist

• Tori Raine: 2 points, 5 steals, 1 rebound and 2 assists

• Lydia Drummond: 3 points “This team really trust each other and play together,” Peyton said. “They are seeing the mismatches and are learning to keep and create space.” The Lady Bears move to 6-1, and they travel to Cumby Tuesday before hosting the Cap Herman Tournament beginning Thursday. Tipoff at Cumby is at 5:30 p.m.
