CLARKSVILLE- The Sulphur Bluff Lady Bears traveled to Clarksville Tuesday for their second district game of the season. The Lady Bears entered the game with a ton of momentum, looking to push their winning streak to seven games.

Not only did Sulphur Bluff enter the game with an impressive six-game winning streak, but they also held perhaps an even more impressive streak. The Lady Bears had not lost a single set in that winning streak, as they have dominated their competition over the last few weeks.

Tuesday saw more of the same as Sulphur Bluff opened things with an impressive opening set. The Lady Bears were in control the entire way, as they cruised to a 25-15 win in the first set.

The second set was perhaps even easier for Sulphur Bluff, as they continued to dominate the game. They won the second set by a score of 25-10, before putting the game away with a 25-14 final set, winning all three sets by double digits.

“The Lady Bears were excited for their second district match, and it showed early in the game. We passed the ball really well, which allowed our setter, Kaitlyn [Brock], to move the ball around offensively,” head coach Lacie Jessup said. “The girl controlled the tempo of the game and played a very solid match.”

Brock had a very strong day setting, finishing with 20 assists. She also have five aces, four digs and one kill in the three-set sweep.

Skylar Stanley led the team in kills, as she has all season, with 12. She also had eight digs, a game-high five blocks and four aces, stuffing the stat sheet in every way possible.

Defensively the team was led by Taylor Wallis and Tori Raine. Wallis had 13 digs, to go along with a pair of assists, one kill and an ace. Raine was just behind her with 12 digs, as well as three kills.

Allie Eason had a strong showing, finishing with five kills, three digs, three aces and two blocks. Dacee Howse contributed four kills, and Jasmine Wade had a pair of kills and one dig. Lydia Drummond also had an impressive outing, posting eight digs, one block, one assist, one kill and one ace.

The win improves Sulphur Bluff ’s record to 13-6 and 2-0 in district play. It also pushes their winning streak to seven games.

The Lady Bears will look to keep their winning ways going next week with another pair of games. Tuesday they travel to Linden-Kildare where the junior varsity will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the varsity to follow. Friday they play host to James Bowie for a varsity only match at 4:30 p.m.
