Everson Walls to speak at spirit awards banquet

Former Dallas Cowboys standout Everson Walls will be the speaker at the fourth annual Fruit of the Spirit Awards Banquet set Saturday in Sulphur Springs.

The banquet, sponsored by C.J. Duffey of Color Blind Ministries, will be held at 3 p.m. at the Sulphur Springs High School cafeteria.

Awards will be presented to winners in nine categories of public services and ministry in Hopkins County during 2019.

Special music will be provided by Charles and Kenya Chaffer with a meal by Duffey’s Barbecue.

The four-time All Pro football cornerback, he will hold a signing for his book, “A Gift for Ron.” The book is about Walls former teammate, the late Ron Springs. Springs recently died following medical complications. Walls donated a kidney to Springs and always showed devotion to his former teammate.

The book by Walls recalls times the two shared together as members of the Dallas Cowboys football team and also off the field experiences.

Walls will be the featured speaker and available afterwards for autographs. Walls will be available for photos, free of charge, at the conclusion of the event.

Tickets to the banquet are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

Advance tickets can be purchased at Good News Christian Bookstore, Jay Hodge Chevrolet and Legacy Choice Hospice in Sulphur Springs.

Tickets call also be purchased by calling 903-335-4764 and can be delivered. All proceeds from event go to benefit the Lord’s Work Food Pantry in Hopkins County.
